ABOUT DAD
Dad’s Nuts started out very small. In 1998 Dad baked small handfuls on cookie sheets in his apartment oven in the tiny foothill town of Meadow Vista, CA. (East of Sacramento) The first recipe consisted of raw Sunflower seeds and raw Egyptian Pumpkins seeds, triple roasted with chili powder, garlic salt and splashed with chili sauce before the last roast. Yum! He bagged them in 4 oz bags, added a homemade label and sold them for $3 at his job in a call center in Sacramento, CA.
Dad’s Nuts grew in to a part-time job; Dad spent 20 hours a week to roast and package over 40 lbs of his nuts! A local chef called Dad and ordered 20 lbs a week as salad toppers! Dad’s Nuts were really getting out of hand as the orders grew to over 80 pounds a week! Nights! Weekends! Holidays! Yikes! Dad’s Nuts had grown out of control!
Dad met the owner of The Nutty Gourmet and found out he could sell gourmet flavored almonds, pistachios and cashews without all the production work!
Dad hung up his apron. Dad’s Nuts were no more.
For years Dad sold The Nutty Gourmet products at street fairs, home shows and as fundraisers in Northern California and Nevada. Dad always kept the dream alive of bringing back the Dad’s Nuts label; he was always looking for the right product to compliment the nuts from The Nutty Gourmet.
As fate would have it, Dad moved to Arizona in 2006 and became the distributor of The Nutty Gourmet for the southwest. One door closes, one door opens! Dad researched local food distribution companies in the southwest and found a real gem to associate himself with.
Dad’s Nuts are alive and well in Arizona! With the new label, Dad’s Nuts along with The Nutty Gourmet product line, means he serves up great values on superb nuts and tasty treats.
Dad and Mom live in Mesa, AZ with their Scotty dog Samantha. Their kids and 10 grandkids live in Northern California. Most of them are nuts too.
